A double cardan joint at the gearbox end provides the most effective vibration solution and has proven essential on Discovery 2 models. Double cardan propshafts successfully reduce vibration on vehicles lifted approximately 2 inches; beyond this height, even double cardan joints struggle to accommodate the angles without vibrating. Contrary to common belief, wide angle propshafts do not eliminate suspension-related vibrations—they don't alter the shaft angles relative to its flanges. Apparent vibration reduction results from the new shaft's weight and condition rather than design. Wide angle propshafts are engineered for vehicles with extended-travel suspension systems. During maximum axle droop, standard propshaft yokes can bind, straining joints and potentially locking the shaft solid or causing catastrophic failure. A 32-degree yoke and joint accommodates typical long-travel suspension configurations using approximately 11-inch travel shocks. This is a direct replacement requiring no transfer box flange adaptor.
