Terrafirma - Wide Angle Propshaft - Rear Fitment: Discovery 1 | Discovery 2 - 300TDI/TD5 During 4x4 manufacturing, propshaft angles relative to the end flanges are precisely engineered to ensure universal joint vibration remains imperceptible. Universal joints are also positioned out of phase to further control vibration. Suspension modifications that raise the vehicle alter these propshaft angles, frequently resulting in noticeable vibration. While hardcore off-road driving typically masks this through mud tyre noise, engine sound, and slower speeds, road-oriented lifted vehicles often find the resulting drone and rattle unacceptable. The most practical solution for vibration elimination is installing a propshaft with a double cardan joint at the gearbox end—a modification proven essential on Discovery 2 models. Double cardan propshafts effectively address vibration on vehicles lifted approximately 2 inches; however, lifts exceeding 2 inches may still experience vibration despite this upgrade. It's important to note that wide angle propshafts do not resolve vibration caused by raised suspension, as they don't alter the shaft-to-flange angles. Any perceived improvement results from the new shaft's heavier weight and optimal condition. Wide angle propshafts serve a different purpose: they're required on vehicles with extended travel suspension where full axle articulation would cause the original yoke to bind, potentially damaging joints and, in severe cases, fracturing the shaft. A 32-degree yoke and joint accommodates typical long travel suspension configurations using approximately 11-inch travel shocks. *Terrafirma double cardan propshafts install as direct replacements without requiring transfer box flange adaptors. *STC4858 differential input flange required for D1
